You might be wondering, what does this ancient tale have to do with inventory management? Well, the battle of David and Goliath teaches a few important things about choosing an inventory system, the first and most obvious is;

  • Bigger is not always better

Everyone including King Saul expected Goliath to win the battle because he was so much bigger than David. The lesson to be learnt here is that just because something is bigger, doesn’t mean it is better, even for your business.

Netsuite offers good combinations of tools with its four main packages; NetSuite ERP, NetSuite CRM, NetSuite HCM, and NetSuite PSA. However these four packages might not be the best fit for every type of business. For small to medium sized businesses these “all inclusive” packages might be too much and much too costly.

For example, if you need inventory and accounting capabilities but not HR or project management tools, a large ERP system is a waste of resources.

You could wait for Netsuite to acquire and develop features or packages to suit your business needs but because Netsuite no longer targets small or medium sized businesses, the needs of your company could be overlooked.
