TradeGecko hosted the last Shopify Meetup for 2017 in Singapore on Wednesday, 22nd November 2017. It was a full house with great discussions, networking, food and drinks with likeminded ecommerce businesses.
Tanaya Sharma, Regional Sales Manager introduced the audience to TradeGecko, a cloud based inventory and order management software for brands and distributors. She talked about how the typical modern merchant’s story of trying to grow the business but instead having issues with cash flow and spending most of their time with operations, formed the inspiration for Cam, Brad & Carl to start TradeGecko.
Managing cash flow is a huge problem which is caused by not managing inventory, warehouses or customers correctly. TradeGecko provides a better way to manage your inventory through stock forecasting, backordering, stock management, shipping / accounting / ecommerce integrations with their B2B payment solution.
Shaun Burke, Head of Small Business Asia for Xero discussed the concept of beautiful accounting software connecting your business in real time by operating on Xero. Gone are the days of pre-cloud accounting complexity with "Xero’s key features bring the lifeblood of small business into the cloud", and suitable for all types of business.
Hazrul A. Jamari, Co-founder & Director of Supply Chain Systems at iCommerce Asia talked about the 9 levels of shipping hell and how not to burnout this selling season. Two solutions were offered including hiring physical help for manual actions and outsourcing repetitive digital processes to virtual assistants and guys like Supahands.
Hakan (Hawk) Steel, Sales and Partnership Manager at StarShipIT educated the audience on how to remove the distraction of shipping by automating it, and gain an extra 25 hours a week to focus on going the business instead. Shipping is extremely important as it impacts your customer experience but it is extremely time consuming to manage. The solution is StarShipIT’s shipping software which is integrated with Shopify, Xero and TradeGecko.
Ricky Jack, CEO of VYNE Digital talked about the benefits of investing in your company’s future and returns without a well planned and managed digital strategy.
Finally, our special guest speaker Amira Geneid, owner of Zahara, participated in a casual Q&A session with moderator Akul Dewan. She talked about how her halal makeup brand was started with her sister when they were unable to find suitable products in the market. Their business has grown considerably in the last couple of years with 4 staff members now but they continue to run their business as a sister to sister brand. Zahara is hosted on a Shopify eCommerce platform, their inventory is managed by TradeGecko and they now outsource a lot of their processes including fulfilment, which has saved them time that they now spend growing their business across South East Asia.
The Shopify Meetup in Singapore concluded with a lively panel discussion with all our guest speakers and then some more networking, food and drinks.
