Integrating eBay with your Shopify store can help grow your online store by giving new customers access to your products. These online leads may eventually turn into customers who skip the larger marketplace site and buy directly from you.
You can get ahead of the competition, as there may be many other vendors with products similar to yours, but the exposure and SEO from eBay help promote your wares. Plus, for those who have international sales, integrating eBay and Shopify allows you to show customers your actual inventory in real-time and collect payments at any time.
Log in to your Shopify account and locate the "sales channels" menu. Click on the + for a list of options, and select eBay from the list. This adds eBay as a sales channel.
Review the list of privileges that you're granting to eBay – these are necessary to allow eBay to send and receive orders on your behalf, but otherwise eBay will not modify your online store in any other way. The permissions give eBay the ability to manage your products, including displaying inventory, processing orders, collecting customer information, and accessing other data related to your online store.
After you've added eBay to your Shopify account, you'll also have to link Shopify to your eBay account. From your eBay dashboard, click "connect" and link your Shopify account to your eBay one.
Once you do this, you'll enable eBay to provide data about sales, customers, and any messages received regarding your online store to Shopify. Then click "add sales channel". At this point, you'll be prompted to log in to your eBay account. If you don't have one, then at this point you'll create one. Be sure to click "allow pop-ups" on your browser.
If you haven't set your eBay account as a business account or if you're creating a new one, then you may be asked for additional business details, your contact information, and your inventory details. These are used to validate the legitimacy of eCommerce businesses on eBay and give your store access to certain marketing initiatives. The more complete and accurate your answers, the more eBay can help you connect with more customers.
Finally, you'll be asked to grant Shopify access to eBay to enable Shopify to create and manage your inventory listings and add new items to eBay. You'll also be able to send and receive messages to shoppers through eBay.
eBay will list their Best Practices as the default policies for your storefront. These recommendations will make your eBay selling experience the most successful. You may wish to configure these to suit your needs. There are 4 pages in total, so review each, then modify as needed, and click through to the next.
The products you offer for sale on eBay are referred to as "listings." You can upload your entire Shopify inventory by clicking "Review and publish all products" or if you wish to only sell some products on eBay, select "choose individual products." You can change these settings at any time. If you opted for selecting individual products, eBay will prompt you to select which ones to publish. Click "Save and publish" to continue.
Once you've selected the products you wish to sell, eBay populates a table representing the listing for each product. You can revise the way that the products appear to eBay shoppers, and you can adjust each one individually as needed.
Including SEO keywords to each description ensures that more customers searching for a particular product will see your listing. Once you've finished, click "Save and publish all products" to create your eBay listings.
There are a few things to consider about integrating Shopify and eBay. First, not every shopper may have access to eBay, so if you're primarily selling to those out of eBay's range, you may not find integrating successful.
Other things to remember are that you have to manually publish new listings from Shopify to eBay. While you can batch-load your Shopify inventory onto eBay all at once initially, as you add new products to your Shopify store, you'll have to individually publish each one thereafter.
You can only control your eBay listings you created in Shopify from Shopify. Changes made from the eBay portal won't update in Shopify, which means that your inventory levels will be inaccurate as more customers purchase from you.
